Oct Meeting

President report – Wendy Lynn and Renelle attended a meeting of the Gathering of the Guilds – they gathered information for future programs. There was discussion of quilds doing quilt shows together. There was also discussion of several guilds joining forces to bring in a famous quilter to same costs. There was mention of a new retreat location in Langley. (Sorry did not get name). Next meeting Apr 11, 2015.

The BMQG was recently awarded an Honourary Lifetime Membership by the Burnaby Association for Community Inclusion (BACI)

Community quilt– has been sewed together and now only quilting to be done.  Where to donate, suggestion?

Artist-in-Resident Adi Parker
Adi Parker’s new art series will explore the family-like aspects of a community in the context of modern art. Get a preview of her fall residency at Leigh Square where she will begin creating her collection of abstract quilt paintings made out of fabric donated by the community. Clean, washed fabric pieces or clothing donations accepted.

Retreat – Spring Retreat Apr 17-19, 2015 Registration ongoing. If interested register asap. Summer Retreat Aug 21-23 2015 min 30 people required Camp Luther $170.

Programs –  We had Brandy Lynn Maslowski visit us.  She put on a great truck show with a very interesting slide show. She was a very inspirational speaker and spoke of her life as a firefighter and now as a quilter and fibre artist.

Quilt Show – We have 190 quilts registrated for the show. Volunteers are still needed – Don’t forget to sign up. 6′ or 8′ ladders are needed to put the quilts if you have one please let Joanne know. Quilts need to be dropped of at Maple Creek between 9-11 on Oct 24. If you are not able to drop off at the school please contact Joanne to arrange to drop off at her place. Quilt pickup will be on Sunday after 5:00 pm. Your receipt is required for pickup so don’t forget it.
