Sept 2015 meeting

President’s remarks – Thank you to all retiring board members and volunteers who are not returning.  Reminder that AGM reports are need from last years board members. Please send to Heather. Needed for the Feb 2016 meeting.

Membership – 6 new registration and 100 renewals.

We Care Quilts – We deliver toques, quilts and incubator matts (18 x 24) to the NIC at the Royal Columbia Hospital. We also make quilts for the Hospice and elementary schools in the Tri Cities. For new members who want to make preemie quilts the first supply of batting and quilt backing is $5.00 and after that it is free.

Program – Summer Challenge due at Oct meeting. 3 spaces still available for the Marvin Ecker’s workshop. 1 space still available for Wanda Moyer’s workshop (Nov).

Community Quilt – more blocks are need.  Instructions are under Donations.

Fall Retreat – Still room need max of 35.  Date is Nov. 20-22. For those members that had registrated for the cancelled Summer retreat and are not able to attend the Fall retreat you will be able to get a refund.  Please contact Joanne.

Quilt Show – Committee is having it first meeting Sept 9.

New Business

Had a guest speaker from Art Connect.  Has asked if we are interested in putting a quilt or quilts into a show that they are having to save Riverview. See attached for further Info

Judy Villett is offering a workshop in New Westminster. See attached for further info

We now have business cards and will be delivered to local shops. If interested in having some please contact Heather.

Library book committee looking for title suggestions to give to the Terry Fox library so they may purchase with the monies from our donation. Please send any suggestion to the publicity email that can be found on the home page.

Our guest for the evening’s meeting was Kirsten Chursinoff who showed an textile art slide show of her work. Her art is on a much smaller scale then many of the quilts that are members make. Very interesting slide show. Here are some pictures of her work.
