2027 Quilt Show Fat Quarter Challenge
You are invited to create an 11”x14” (finished size) quilt with the theme…
~ Making a Grand Entrance ~
- The mottled black FQ supplied by the BMQG (for a cost of $5) must be visible on the front of your challenge quilt. You can consider using it as your background and building your design on the surface, or piecing it into your design
- Choose 1 or 2 additional fabrics (solid or pattern). You can also include different values (light, medium, dark) of your chosen colors to add depth to your design
- Consider adding surface embellishments in any color to add interest and accentuation e.g. buttons, beads, embroidery, ribbon, fabric paint, crayons, etc.
- Challenge yourself to explore new tools and techniques to express your interpretation of “Making a Grand Entrance”
- Edges can be finished using either a binding or facing
- Add a 2”x10” sleeve to the back for ease of hanging
- Your submission should include a written description of your interpretation of your Making a Grand Entrance challenge quilt
Challenge quilts will be displayed April 23-25, 2027 at the BMQG Quilt Show
