How to Reset Your Password

How to reset a forgotten password on the BMQG web site.

Every member of the guild should have a membership account on the web site that will give them access to the member’s only content, such as the Policies & Procedures documents, Meeting Minutes, Show & Tell Photos, etc.

If you have forgotten your password, it can be reset easily on the web site. Unfortunately the process is not as straightforward as it is supposed to be due to a persistent bug, but it is not hard to do. This document outlines the steps to follow

  1. Go to the member’s login page at:
    https://bluemountainquiltersguild.ca/login-2
  2. Click on “Forgot Password?” to open the Password Reset page.
  3. Alternatively, you can go directly to the Password Reset page.
  4. Enter your email address and click the “Reset Password” button.
  5. It should say “Processing password reset request…”, and then that message will disappear.
  6. You should then receive an email within a few minutes that contains your new password.
  7. The password will look something like M4z)zBDWLqY6 or 77*M)B#a*G^T. It appears to always be 12 characters long, so check the spelling carefully.
  8. Here’s the hard part, you will have to copy and paste or write down this new password because you must enter it into the Login page manually. After you have logged in, you may change it to something more memorable if you wish. There is an option to send a link to avoid having to enter the password manually, but for some reason that does not work and causes an error.
  9. When logging in with the new password, you can click on the “Show Password” checkbox to see what you are entering.
  10. After logging in, you can change your password by clicking on “Log In” again, which will now show your account summary. Click on “Edit Profile” to open a page where you can enter a new password and repeat it for safety, then click “Submit”.
  11. Unfortunately, you will then need to log in once again using the new password. UGH!
  12. And finally, you should receiver one last email saying that your password has been changed.

A few notes:

  • It is not possible to ever display an existing password, due to security measures. You can only overwrite it with a new value, entered twice to confirm it.
  • You can enter an a new password that is the same as the existing one that has been forgotten, it does not have to be something different.
